Summary

Until the completion of a purpose-built building in 1965, the School of Architecture had no permanent location at the University of Melbourne. It was housed in Old Chemistry, army huts in front of the then School of Engineering, a warehouse in Carlton and a house in Parkville. In the early 1960s, staff and students began raising funds for a new architecture building. Designed by Brian Lewis (with Eggleston MacDonald and Secomb), the new building was constructed between 1962 and 1965. Alterations took place in 1989, 1995-97 and 1999, and demolition of the building began in late 2012.
