Summary
William John Mitchell was born in Horsham, Victoria in 1944. He studied architecture at the University of Melbourne and, after graduating, went to the USA to study at Yale University and pursue his career. Mitchell was Dean of the MIT School of Planning and Architecture until 2003. In 2009, William J. Mitchell collaborated with Koening Eizenberg and Gehry Technologies to produce one of the final six shortlisted entries in the design competition for a new architecture building at the University of Melbourne.
